CANTON, Mass. -- Kylie Harrison provided Curry College with a 3-2 result in overtime against the University of New England in Conference of New England (CNE) women's ice hockey action on Saturday (Nov. 15) at Canton Ice House.
A day after suffering their first setback of the year at the hands of the Nor'easters, Harrison's shot behind the screen in front with 1:14 left in the extra session gets the Colonels to 4-1-1 overall (2-1-1 CNE). Curry never trailed on the day, but UNE (2-4-0, 1-3-0) responded to goals on two occasions to bring things back level.
The game was scoreless through one period, thanks to 20 saves from
Kyleigh Matola in the UNE net.
Bella Mardesich put the hosts on the board at 10:02 of the 2nd, however a power-play goal from
Amanda Forziati tied it less than four minutes later. Mardesich restored the Curry lead for a seven-minute span in the 3rd, however,
Kaylen Taddia cashed in on a power-play chance with less than five minutes left in regulation to knot the score back up.
The advantaged goals were the first conversions of the season for the Nor'easters.
Jamie Ryan,
Lainie Lemieux,
Mackenzie O'Leary, and
Jamie DuPont all registered assists on the tallies.
Matola wound up with 35 stops, while her counterpart for the Colonels, Coriann Hoag, turned away 27 shots.
UNE's only outing next week will be on Saturday (7 p.m.) when Salve Regina University enters the Forum for a non-conference match.
