UNE runs in 23rd at NCAA regional

HOPKINTON, N.H. -- The University of New England closed out its season with a 23rd-place showing at the 2025 NCAA Division III East Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday (Nov. 15) at Hopkinton Fairgrounds.

Nationally-ranked No.11 MIT captured the region's automatic bid into next week's national championship by topping the field of 32 institutions with a score of 42. No.4 Tufts University was better in the first two spots but finished second (48), followed by Colby College (105), Bates College (124), and WPI (136).

Fitchburg State University's Paulino Guevara Mateo was the first individual to cross the line with an 8K time of 24:31, which was exactly second clear to Tufts' Amokrane Aouchiche.

UNE's team score of 672 received contributions from Troy Silvestri (57th; 26:19), Thomas Hoff (144th; 28:40), Jackson Stone (153rd; 28:55), Edward Iannuzzi-Sucich (166th; 29:36), and Griffin Kaplan (170th; 29:41).
