WENHAM, Mass. --
Troy Silvestri had an all-conference showing for the third time in as many season to guide the University of New England at the 2025 Conference of New England (CNE) Men's Cross Country Championship, which was contested Saturday (Nov. 1) at Gordon College. The Nor'easters placed ninth out of 10 institutions.
Silvestri crossed the 8K line in a time of 26:29 that was good for 12th position in the field of 115 runners. All-conference accolades go to the first 15 competitors, in groups of five; those and the major awards for the season will be announced at a later date.
Roger Williams University received a dominant performance from Nathan Tassey, who won the individual title for the fourth time by clocking 25:20 for a 28-second triumph over teammate Nathan Evans. The Hawks used that strength at the front to score 34 points as a squad and win for the fifth consecutive year. Wentworth Institute of Technology (68) and the University of Hartford (70) were next in the ranks.
UNE registered a total score of 228 and got contributions from
Thomas Hoff (59th; 28:47),
Griffin Kaplan (71st; 29:20),
Edward Iannuzzi-Sucich (72nd; 29:25), and
Jackson Stone (75th; 29:30).
The Nor'easters will compete in the NCAA Division III East Championship at Hopkinton Fairgrounds in New Hampshire on November 15 to close out the campaign.
