Sally Kelton and
Maya Brochu paced the University of New England women's cross country team to a 6th-place showing out of 26 squads at the Keene State College Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 4).
The nation's No.2 team, Williams College, ran away with the title by claiming the first four spots and totaling 18 points to beat Tufts University in second (60). Colby College (122), Wellesley College (133), and Westfield State University (207) were the only other institutions in front of the Nor'easters (250), who had Amherst College (270), Springfield College (273), and Endicott College (273) in the rear view mirror.
Kelton took 35th in the field of over 300 runners, clocking a 6K time of 22:54. Brochu was 44th in 23:13.
Sylvie DiBartolomeo (62nd; 23:33),
Gianna Rodriguez (86th; 24:21), and
Corinna Hobbs (132nd; 25:27) rounded out the scoring for UNE.
Williams' Tamar Byl-Brann posted a time of 21:13 for the individual win in the event.
In two weeks, the Nor'easters head to the Connecticut College Invitational.
