BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Kate Kelso notched three goals and Micaela Jacobs tacked on two to power the University of New England field hockey team past the University of Hartford, 6-0, in the Conference of New England (CNE) regular-season finale at Blue Bolt Field on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 25).

The Nor'easters (11-7, 5-2 CNE) cap the league schedule with five consecutive wins and look to be the third seed when the 2025 CNE Championship gets underway next weekend with a first-round home game. The official bracket will be confirmed in the coming days.

The hat trick by Kelso is the 35th in program history, and just the second in the last four seasons. Jacobs pocketed two in one game for the second time in a week. The pair now has eight and six goals on the year, respectively.

Kelso batted home a bouncing pass in the crease from Ava Wolverton in the 10th minute to get the hosts on the board [Watch], and then cleared space for a backhand flip in the 21st minute to make it 2-0 [Watch].

In the 25th minute, a blazing shot by Makena Valentine was saved by Hartford's Carolyn Somers and caromed off the post, almost straight up in the air -- Jacobs went up for it and dunked it over the top [Watch]. Jacobs followed that with a 36-minute put-back off a shot by Kelso to pad the cushion to 4-0 [Watch].

Kelso completed her scoring in the 44th minute, with a slight redirection in the circle on a long hit by Shelly Tremblay [Watch].

Valentine got one in the goal column in the 53rd minute, dragging a penalty stroke off the back-left frame in the cage [Watch].

The Nor'easters racked up 32 total shots and 17 corners in the contest, while blanking the first-year program from Hartford. Somers totaled 11 saves over 40-plus minutes for the Hawks (3-12, 0-7), and Aubrey Paul recorded seven the rest of the way.

Greta Jennison and Savanna Harvey split time in goal for UNE, which has its final tune-up before the postseason on Tuesday (6 p.m.) against No.3 Babson College.
