BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Shelly Tremblay finished a feed from Makena Valentine in the 42nd minute to lift the University of New England past Wheaton College (Mass.) by a 1-0 margin on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 12) at Blue Bolt Field.

The win is the sixth straight for the Nor'easters (9-5), while the result halts a three-game unbeaten run by the Lyons (7-6).

UNE started to control the tempo in the 2nd period, but it took until the seventh penalty corner for the hosts to break onto the scoreboard. Valentine received the insert and sent it left to Tremblay, who whipped a mid-level shot with enough pace to get by the stick of Wheaton goalie Grace Ferguson and find space inside the left post [Watch].

The Lyons were able to draw one corner in the 2nd and another in the 4th, but were still unable to convert those chances into any shot attempts. For the match, the Nor'easters piled up sizable advantages in shots (15-1) and penalty corners (12-2).

Greta Jennison did not need to make a save to help UNE secure the win. Ferguson closed the day with seven stops for the visitors.

The Nor'easters welcome in the No.5 team in the country, Bates College, on Wednesday (6 p.m.).
