PORTLAND, Maine -- University of New England women's golfers
Amanda Forziati and
Anna O'Neill teamed up to place 2nd out of seven pairs at the modified-format Southern Maine Cup (USM), which was played Saturday (Sep. 7) at Riverside Golf Course.
The competition deviates from the traditional collegiate golf scoring system and links two teammates for an 18-hole round with three sections -- six holes of scramble format, six holes of alternate shot, and six holes of best ball.
Forziati and O'Neill pared seven of the last nine holes to post 85, which wound up three strokes back (82) of the lone duo from Saint Joseph's College of Maine, Avery Beaudoin and Reese Beaudoin.
UNE's other scores were generated by
Eadie Nadeau and
Katelynn LeBlanc (107), and
Reese LeMay and
Olivia Hand (113).
The Nor'easters have a two-week gap in the schedule before returning to Riverside for the Husky Invitational on September 22.
