CASCO, Maine -- Ben Donahue paced the University of New England men's golf team at the John Queenan Memorial Invitational hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Wednesday (Sep. 4), as the 2024 season began at Point Sebago Golf Course.

The Nor'easters posted a team score of 340 to finish eighth in the field of nine teams. Gordon College (312) took the title, three ahead of the University of Southern Maine (315) and 14 up on Southern Maine Community College (326).

Mario Matteao of Gordon and Alex Fournier of USM shared the low round of the day with a three-over-par 75.

After Donahue's 81, which placed in a tie for 12th, Tim Melley and Sean Guerrette added 83 and 84, respectively. Hank Hannan completed the UNE total with a 92.

The Nor'easters are scheduled to participate in the modified-format Southern Maine Cup on Saturday at Riverside Golf Club.
