WATERVILLE, Maine – The University of New England women's rugby team opened its 2024 season at Colby, playing 10-on-10, with the Mules pulling out a 50-48 victory in Saturday's high-scoring affair.
 
Four different Nor'easters found the try zone, led by Elizabeth Goodrich with three. McKenna Len and Celeste Valerio scored two tries apiece, and Hannah Ramalho added one.
 
Liz Cogan connected on three of her five conversion attempts and Elizabeth Goodrich made her only attempt of the afternoon.
 
Three consecutive Colby tries late in the match proved to be UNE's undoing. The Nor'easters came up with a key turnover late to have a chance at scoring a game-winning try, but were unable to capitalize.
 
The Nor'easters are set to host Maine for the home opener on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1  p.m.
