PORTLAND, Maine --
Trevor Flanagan fired a 3-over-par round of 75 to help the University of New England men's golf squad to a fifth-place showing at the Husky Classic hosted by the University of Southern Maine on Sunday (Sep. 22) at Riverside Golf Course.
With five of the top 15 scores in the field of 38 individuals, USM took home the team title with a score of 302 -- six in front of Nichols College (308). Husson University (315) and Saint Joseph's College (317) came next, before the Nor'easters (321) and Maine Maritime Academy (329).
In his first action of the season, Flanagan was the only player under par through nine holes. SJC's Drew Mathieu was just one back, though, and carded one of two back side 34s to wind up at 70 with a two-stroke win over two others. Flanagan settled in the 5th position.
Ben Donahue pared the final five holes to shoot 80 for UNE, and
Sean Guerrette registered an 82.
Tyler Politano completed the team number with 84 on the afternoon.
The Nor'easters head for Augusta Country Club and MMA's Mariner Invitational on Tuesday.
