Engineers hold down UNE, 2-0

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Worcester Polytechnic Institute defeated the University of New England, 2-0, in field hockey action Saturday afternoon (Sep. 14) at Carr Field.

Goals from Abigail Rauch and Lauren Meinhold in the 4th and 38th minutes, respectively, powered the offense for the hosts, who had a 9-5 edge in penalty corners. While total shots were 13-4, the shots on goal margin was only 4-3.

Between the pipes for the Engineers (2-3), Ella Moreau stopped a pair of shots and received one defensive save from Emily Sollecito to help preserve the shutout.

Dawn DeWeese-Moss made two saves for the Nor'easters (2-3), who return home to face Husson University on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
