Nor'easters advance to Chris Munn 7's final

NORTHFIELD, Vt. -- The University of New England women's rugby team went 3-0 to advance to the finals of the Chris Munn 7's Invitational, where it fell to the hosts, Norwich University, in the title match.

The Nor'easters won their first three match-ups over Norwich Maroon (22-5), Middlebury College (22-0), and St. Michael's College (43-5) before dropping a 21-10 decision to Norwich Maroon & Gold in the championship.

Celeste Valerio and Liz Cogan accounted for four tries each on the day. Griffin Chaffin-Quiray and Alex Wallenmaier contributed three apiece, with all three of Chaffin-Quiray's scores coming in the win over St. Mike's. Cogan finished with four conversions for UNE, while Sara Kraus added a pair. Mackalya O'Meara offered a strong performance for UNE with numerous assists on tries.

UNE returns to play next Sunday (April 14), hosting the Nor'easter 7's at Blue Storm Stadium.
