NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The University of New England track & field squad had its runners and jumpers challenging a strong field at Connecticut College's two-day Silfen Invitational, which wrapped up Saturday (Apr. 14).
On Friday,
Nina Parziale and
Kelsee Gladu competed in the elite distance portion and booked spots in the New England Championships with their times in the 10,000m. Parziale's 38:11.07 was the second-best effort in program history, while Gladu's personal-best of 38:58.51 currently stands third on that list. They placed 5th and 9th in the event, respectively.
Lucy Stevens improved on last week's first time running in the 3,000m steeplechase, clocking 12:31.66; the second-best mark at UNE.
Saturday's action included
Sophia King registering the third-fastest time in program records with 18.22 in the 100m hurdles.
Emily Buchter added a 13.45 in the 100m dash, while
Anna Evans topped out at 1.47 meters in the high jump.
The Nor'easter throwers are finishing up at Saint Joseph's College on Sunday, and the full team is back together next Friday and Saturday on the campus of Bowdoin College for the Maine Championships.
