SOMERVILLE, Mass. --
Eden Morris registered a new program standard for the University of New England women's track & field team in the triple jump as the Nor'easters competed at the Snowflake Invitational hosted by Tufts University on Saturday (Mar. 30) at the Dussault Track.
UNE totaled 37 points to wind up in 9th place out of the 19 teams at the event.
The school triple jump record entered the day at 10.17 meters, set during the 2022 season, and wound up measuring 10.36m once Morris was done with it. She only had one attempt under the wind-aided threshold, but it was also the longest. Morris finished in fourth place, and
Sydni Lehr notched a solid 9.96 to take sixth.
Sophia King clocked her best time in the 100m hurdles with 17.87 seconds. The time itself would have bettered her own program mark had the wind not gusted a little too strong during the run.
In the discus,
Sarah LaVita launched the second-longest throw at UNE, reaching 34.27m -- just 0.18 short of her school record from last season. It was good for second place against the field.
Cheyenne Cahill measured 10.43m in the shot put to claim fourth place;Â it was a 0.51 improvement over last week.
The Nor'easters will take part in Gordon College's Jon Tymann Invitational next Saturday.
