PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- Zoe Tow scored with 8:06 remaining for the game's only goal, as Johnson & Wales University took a 1-0 Conference of New England (CNE) women's ice hockey victory over the University of New England Saturday evening (Nov. 9) at Dennis Lynch Arena.
The win was JWU's second one-goal triumph over UNE in a 24-hour span after earning a 2-1 win in Biddeford Friday night.
Tow's marker came shortly after the Nor'easters had killed off a Wildcat power-play opportunity. Marissa Lafferty won a battle to the right of the UNE cage just before Tow came up with the puck and rifled a shot top shelf from the low slot. Tow had tallied one of JWU's two goals in the Friday night win.
Johnson & Wales (2-1, 1-1 CNE) was able to come away victorious despite being doubled-up in shots on goal (34-17). Katelyn Cardoso earned the shutout win in goal for the Wildcats.
Kirsten DiCicco turned aside 17 shots for the Nor'easters (0-3, 0-3), who will return to action next Friday with a 7 p.m. tilt versus Curry College at the Canton Ice House.
