SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- University of New England sophomore Troy Silvestri turned in an all-conference effort for the second time in as many years at the 2024 Conference of New England (CNE) Men's Cross Country Championship, placing 6th out of 119 runners on Saturday (Nov. 2) at Western New England University. The Nor'easters finished in seventh place from the field of 10 institutions.

Nathan Tassey of Roger Williams University captured the individual title for the third consecutive campaign, looping the 8K course in 25:14 to win by 11 seconds. Last season, Silvestri was only behind Tassey in the final standings.

The Hawks accounted for three of the top four competitors on the way to a team score of 38 and a third straight victory, leading Suffolk University (50), Endicott College (96), Wentworth Institute of Technology (105), and the University of Hartford (112) on the first half of the leaderboard.

UNE's total of 202 points included results from Silvestri (25:47), Tommy Norgang (59th; 28:55), Jackson Stone (63rd; 29:10), Michael Erickson (67th; 29:16), and Chris Berthrong (81st; 30:00).

All-conference honors go to the initial 15 runners, and major awards for the season will be announced at a later date.

On November 16, the Nor'easters will head to regional site Hopkinton Fairgrounds in New Hampshire for the NCAA Division III East Championship.
