KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine -- Paced by rounds of 90 and 91 from Amanda Forziati and Reese LeMay, the University of New England women's golf team placed 2nd in the modified-scoring format UNE Invitational at Cape Arundel Golf Club on Friday (Oct. 4).

The first event hosted by the new program counted just three scores per institution instead of the traditional four to decide the winner. Southern Maine Community College, led by medalist Charlotte Blanchard's 19-over-par 89, combined for 284 to edge the Nor'easters by five (289). Saint Joseph's College did not have enough players to register a team number.

Forziati had the best back nine in the field of nine competitors (43) to tie for second place. LeMay, who cleared her season-best by 14 shots and was 18 below her average, recorded the next lowest back side total (44) -- including a birdie from two feet on the par-3 13th hole.

Eadie Nadeau also posted a season low, by 13, with 108. Katelynn LeBlanc came in at her best of 116, and Libby Stevens carded 124.
