BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England Varsity Club Athletics Hall of Fame held its 19th induction ceremony at the Harold Alfond Forum on Friday evening (Oct. 4), formally honoring the 2024 Class of four fairly recent student-athletes.

The celebration included former student-athletes Brady Fleurent '19 [men's ice hockey], Trevor Fleurent '17 [men's ice hockey], Jolena Lampron '18 [women's lacrosse], and Avery (Alberghini) Laperle '19 '21M [softball].

Now, 71 individuals and seven teams have been inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame, which was established in 2005 to honor the very best in the combined history of St. Francis College, Westbrook College, and UNE.

The Fleurent brothers (Biddeford, Maine) are the first UNE men's ice hockey players set to join the Hall of Fame since the varsity program came back in 2009-10 after 25 years un-sponsored. Ice hockey previously existed from 1973-84; through 1979, it was under St. Francis College, which has three players, one coach, and a one-time group of three teams already enshrined.

When Trevor – in his junior year – and Brady reconnected on the 2015-16 squad, it sparked the first winning campaign, and conference playoff victory, since the program was restarted. The Nor'easters improved each season during Brady's tenure, which amounted to a 70-33-10 overall record and a 40-23-8 ledger in league outings. The 2016-17 group reached the inaugural Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship game as the fifth seed, battling with the top squad into the closing seconds of regulation. UNE notched 20 wins in 2017-18 en route to its first national ranking, ascending as high as No.4, and hosted both the CCC final and the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship (at-large selection). The Nor'easters then won their first four postseason contests in 2018-19, including three consecutive road games to capture the conference title and advance to the national quarterfinals. The team was ranked in the U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) Top 15 Poll for 18 out of 19 weeks that season and totaled a school-record 21 victories (at the time).

Brady, who was a two-year captain for the program, graduated in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in sport management. He stacked up the accolades over his final three seasons, as each culminated with a 1st Team All-America selection by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) and a 1st Team All-USCHO honor. Brady was a three-time 1st Team All-CCC pick, a two-time CCC Player of the Year, a two-time New England Player of the Year, twice the recipient of the Joe Concannon Award (best American-born player in the region), and once the runner-up for the AHCA National Player of the Year. He remains UNE's career leader with 181 points (1.65/game), 121 assists (1.10/game), and 110 games played, while ranking second with 60 goals (0.55/game) and four shorthanded goals. Behind 18 tallies and 35 assists as a sophomore, Brady wound up as the NCAA Statistical Champion for both points/game (2.04) and assists/game (1.35). He logged 35 assists as a junior and senior, too, and, once again, landed the nation's top statistical points/game mark (1.89) in 2017-18. Brady owns a piece of the program's best single-game performances with six points (two of the three), four goals (one of the four), and four assists (three of the nine). He also shares the NCAA record for the fastest goal of a game, converting once at 0:05 of the opening period.

Trevor wrapped up his bachelor's degree in sport management in 2017, when he was atop every offensive category within the program records. He currently stands third with 116 total points (fourth at 1.15/game), and fourth with 50 goals, 66 assists, 15 power-play tallies, and 101 games played. Trevor led the way in 2016-17 with 20 goals (still a program-record 0.80/game), and shared an NCAA Statistical Champion distinction of his own, with rookie teammate Ryan Bloom, by depositing 10 power-play goals. The holder of two of the four four-goal performances in a game was ultimately named 3rd Team All-America by the AHCA as a senior, shortly after the captain garnered a second all-conference nod of his career (CCC 1st Team).

Lampron (Lyman, Maine), who completed a bachelor's degree in political science in 2018, will be the third women's lacrosse student-athlete to be inducted from the program, which began in 1998. The Nor'easters went 35-34 during her time, with a 20-12 CCC record and three appearances in the league semifinals. Lampron is the most recent – and only defender – out of four players to garner four all-conference selections, and just the second with three 1st Team notations. Those efforts translated into being recognized twice as a 2nd Team All-Region performer by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). She stands as UNE's leader in caused turnovers with 186 over 66 games, which ranks 13th in NCAA Division III history. Lampron had 57 in just 14 outings during the 2018 campaign, and the 4.07 caused turnovers/game figure was rated fifth in the country. She also topped the squad in ground balls over three years, amassing 221 for her career, and added 105 draw controls. The two-year captain also became a scoring threat over time, netting 25 of her 51 goals as a senior.

Laperle (Moretown, Vt.), formerly Alberghini, graduated with a bachelor's degree in health, wellness, and occupational studies in 2019. She then earned a master's degree in occupational therapy in 2021, and has been an assistant coach with the softball program ever since. As a student-athlete on the diamond, Laperle appeared in 129 games for the Nor'easters – primarily as catcher – helping UNE to an 83-65 overall mark and 45-25 in the CCC while serving as a three-year captain. She was a three-time All-CCC honoree, including 1st Team in 2016 and 2019, when she was voted as the league's Rookie of the Year and unanimous Player of the Year, respectively. In that senior season, Laperle also landed the program's first All-America nod from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), with 2nd Team, as well as UNE's first NFCA All-Region 1st Team selection. She still tops the school standards with 114 career runs scored and 82 stolen bases, while sitting second in on-base percentage (.518), third in batting average (.458), and fifth in hits (165), slugging percentage (.558), and triples (9). Defensively, she committed just eight errors in 547 chances for one of the elite fielding efficiency rates (.985). Over 38 contests in 2019, she batted at a program-record .534 clip and went a remarkable 41-for-41 on steal attempts – among Division III players that year, those ranked fifth (hitting) and fourth (stolen bases/game). Laperle posted a trio of four-hit outings over her time in Biddeford, once had a 5-for-5 game swiping bases, and delivered a two-triple postseason performance to help jumpstart the Nor'easters in the opener of the 2019 playoffs. The 12-4 CCC ledger was UNE's second-highest winning percentage since joining the conference and earned the second seed, and, three wins later, the squad was the last unbeaten team in the double elimination tournament for the third time in program history. Also in 2019, Laperle was UNE's second student-athlete recognized as a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® First Team selection.

In back-to-back years, Lampron and Laperle were highlighted as UNE's nominees for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
