UNE breezes by Monks, 127-65

STANDISH, Maine -- Adria Horton and Maeve McDermott accounted for four of the six individual race wins for the University of New England women's swimming team, which chalked up a 127-65 victory over Saint Joseph's College at the Harold Alfond Center Aquatics facility on Friday (Oct. 25).

In addition to having the top times in the 200-free (2:06.66) and 100-free (58.20), Horton contributed the breaststroke leg of the triumphant 400-medley relay squad (4:27.65), which was aided by Liv Roux, Payton Walmsley, and Ari Cioffi.

McDermott led the way in the 200-IM (2:27.27), and narrowly edged out Roux by 0.05 seconds to claim to 50-back (31.67).

Walmsley got on the board by taking the 500-free (6:09.32), while Annika Doeppers registered UNE's other solo win in the 1,000-free (12:02.56). Doeppers later joined up with Roux, Eloise Ring, and Tess Zurawski for first place in the 400-free relay (4:07.22).

The Monks touched the wall first on three occasions, courtesy of Kiley Matthews (50-free; 26.97), Cheri Willems (50-fly; 30.96), and Berkley Hutchins (50-breast; 34.45).

In two weeks (Nov. 9), the Nor'easters visit Mount Holyoke College.
