BREWSTER, Mass. -- Ben Donahue posted rounds to 76 and 75 to lead the University of New England men's golf team to a 36-hole total of 655 and 15th place out of 22 institutions competing in the 89th Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship, which concluded on Sunday (Oct. 20) at The Captains Course.

Endicott College ran away with the title with a score of 569, backing up an even-par 288 on Saturday with a 7-under 281 in the final round. The Gulls -- who were guided by co-medalists Will Pierce and Brady Burke with two-day totals of 139 (-5) -- topped Husson University (606: 302-304), Bates College (606: 301-305), the University of Hartford (607: 301-306), and Roger Williams University (608: 302-306).

The Nor'easters shot 329 and 326 over the two days.

Donahue delivered five birdies during his 151 weekend, which is good for the fifth-lowest (tied) 36-hole score-to-par (+7) in program history.

After Donahue, Sean Guerrette registered 161 (84-77), which included a season-best number (+5) on Sunday around the Port Course. Trevor Flanagan logged his best round of the tournament (80) on the Starboard Course in Round 1 and wrapped up at 164. Tim Melley rounded out the squad total with 179 (89-90).

UNE now has eight days to gear up for the 2024 Conference of New England (CNE) Men's Golf Championship, which begins on next Tuesday at Tedesco Country Club in Marblehead, Massachusetts. The 36-hole event carries with it the league's automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Championship.
