BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Maeve McDermott, Annika Doeppers, and Payton Walmsley each captured a pair of individual events to guide the University of New England in a 147-53 women's swimming victory over Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Friday evening (Oct. 18) at the Campus Center Pool.

McDermott touched the wall first in the 200-IM (2:26.46) and the 100-free (59.70), Doeppers took the top spot in the 200-free (2:13.02) and 500-free (5:57.83), and Walmsley bested the fields in the 100-IM (1:07.14) and 100-breast (1:13.02).

The Nor'easters (1-0) claimed 10 of the 11 races, in all, including both relays. McDermott, Doeppers, and Walmsley each factored in one group triumph, as well -- the 200-medley relay of Adria Horton, Walmsley, Eloise Ring, and Ari Cioffi clocked 2:00.23, and the 200-free relay swam by McDermott, Horton, Regina Dyer, and Doeppers finished in 1:51.23.

Horton won the 100-fly with a time of 1:03.44, and Liv Roux supported the UNE effort with a victory in the 100-back (1:08.96) -- 1.22 in front of Ring in the second-closest event of the night.

For SJC, Kiley Matthews had the only first-place result in the 50-free (27.51), which was just 0.44 ahead of UNE's Peyton Dion.

The Nor'easters are slated to visit the Monks next Friday.
