#6 Tufts gets by UNE

Statistics

MEDFORD, Mass. -- Kylie Rosenquest and Andrea Delgiudice each had two goals and a pair of assists to power No.6 Tufts University over the University of New England, 6-0, in field hockey action Wednesday (Oct. 16) at Ounjian Field.

The Nor'easters kept the Jumbos off the board for the first 20 minutes, but then three strikes in a span of 3:03 from Claire Gavin, Rosenquest, and Delgiudice vaulted the hosts in front in the middle of the 2nd period.

Tufts (10-2) received 31st and 37th-minute goals from Rosenquest and Delgiudice to increase the margin, before Riley Schmidt capped the scoring in the 52nd minute.

The Jumbos, who finished with an 11-3 margin in penalty corners, received the only save necessary for the combined clean sheet from Isabel Ginns in the 4th quarter; Lydia Eastburn played the initial 25 minutes.

For UNE (6-8) -- which had upset then No.7 Tufts in overtime last year for the biggest nationally-ranked win in program history -- Dawn DeWeese-Moss made nine stops between the pipes. Micaela Jacobs added a couple of defensive saves prior to halftime, bringing her season total to 10.

The Nor'easters resume Conference of New England (CNE) action on Saturday at Western New England University.
