BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Mic Hujus, Annika Doeppers, and Tess Zurawski combined for eight individual victories as the University of New England women's swimming team rolled to a 180-72 win over Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday (Jan. 13) at the Campus Center Pool.

The Nor'easters (4-2), who were back in action for the first time in well over a month, notched 12 total first-place finishes on the afternoon, including both relays.

Hujus continued a fantastic rookie season with three dominant event wins in the 50-backstroke (29.06), 100-freestyle (55.03), and 50-butterfly (27.46). The time in the 50 back was good for a new program record (by 0.02) [Watch], breaking the oldest standing mark of any stroke; Cassie Doherty had held it for 18 years.

Doeppers returned from studying abroad last semester to comfortably claim the 200-IM (2:33.56), the 50-breaststroke (36.00), and the 100-breaststroke (1:17.53). Doeppers was UNE's top performer at last year's Little East Conference (LEC) Championships, going 3-for-3 in all-league finishes.

Zurawski, competing for the first time in a Nor'easter suit, won the 100-backstroke (1:08.02) and the 100-IM (1:11.97). In the IM, she touched the wall 0.72 ahead of teammate Meghan Cabral.

Katie Durrua captured the 100-butterfly (1:10.78) and was 0.70 behind the winning effort of teammate Jess Russell in the 200-freestyle (2:17.93).

For the Mariners, Rayelle Brewer took the 50-freestyle (27.14) and 500-freestyle. The 50 free was the tightest race of the day, as UNE's Elli Donovan was just 0.26 back.

The Nor'easters were victorious in the 200-medley relay (2:02.92) with Liv Roux, Cabral, Durrua, and Hujus. The 200-freestyle relay group of Donovan, Ari Cioffi, Doeppers, and Zurawski was also first to the wall (1:55.25).

UNE entertains Rhode Island College next Saturday (12 p.m.).
