BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England men's cross country program hosted the 3rd Annual Ron Ouellette Invitational on Saturday (Sep. 9) amidst challenging heat conditions at Rotary Park. The Nor'easters were unable to complete a team score in the event.
The University of Maine-Farmington (32), Saint Joseph's College of Maine (42), and Maine Maritime Academy (58) were the three squads to posted team totals. Jacob Pelletier of SJC finished the 8K race in 27:57 for the top spot out of the 37 runners to cross the line.
Isaiah Cyr was the leading competitor for UNE, posting a time of 32:41 to wind up in 13th position.
Griffin Kaplan (19th; 35:07),
Liam Attwood (22nd; 35:23), and
Alex Thibeault (23rd; 35:30) rounded out the Nor'easters in action.
The meet is named for the former UNE cross country coach, who retired in 2019 after 20 years at the helm. Ron Ouellette guided the programs to a combined nine conference championships, received a dozen Coach of the Year honors, and was inducted into the institution's Hall of Fame in 2017.
UNE heads for the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Invitational next Saturday.
