BANGOR, Maine -- Both Troy Silvestri and the University of New England registered 6th-place showings at the 2023 Maine Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday (Sept. 30) at Saxl Park.

The Nor'easters took 6th from the field of 12 teams with a score of 192, with Bowdoin College (27) edging Bates College (37) for the title at the top. Bowdoin had the leading two runners out of the 128 competitors, including Will Goddard, who crossed the line in 25:17 for the 8K solo crown.

Silvestri (26:14) garnered All-State status with the result; the first by a UNE member since 2019. He was the only non-Bowdoin or Bates finisher in the top 10.

Adding to the Nor'easter total was Tommy Norgang (72nd; 29:28), Jack O'Connor (73rd; 29:30), Jackson Stone (76th; 29:44), and Griffin Kaplan (96th; 32:18).

UNE returns to action on October 14 at the Suffolk University Invitational, the second race of the season at Franklin Park.
