BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The University of New England men's golf team finished 19th out of 21 squads with a two-day total of 663 at the Bowdoin College Invitational, which was completed on Sunday (Sep. 24) at Brunswick Golf Club.
Trinity College (Conn.) turned in a 36-hole score of 589 (291-298) to top the event by three, ahead of New York University (296-296). The host Polar Bears had the low number in the field on day two (295) and wound up in a tie for seventh overall at 598. The Nor'easters went 333 and 330 over the tournament rounds.
UNE received 156 during the competition from
Jake Mielcarz (81-75), 157 out of
Trevor Flanagan (75-82), 166 from
Jack Sicurella (84-82), and 184 off the clubs of
Patrick Stone (89-95). Mielcarz placed in a tie for 50th out of 110.
Joymuth Luangtana-anan of NYU claimed the individual medalist honor with a score of 140 (73-67), edging Ashton Lewis of Eastern Connecticut State University (70-71) by one around the par-72, 6,644-yard course.
The Nor'easters head to Augusta Country Club on Thursday for the Maine Maritime Academy Mariner Invitational.
