Haagenson claims 400m hurdles at Tymann Invitational

WENHAM, Mass. -- Izabella Haagenson topped the field in the 400m hurdles as the University of New England women's track & field team participated in Gordon College's Jon Tymann Invitational at the Brigham Athletic Complex on Saturday (Apr. 8).

Haagenson clocked 1:10.97 to best the other nine competitors in the event, including 0.65 seconds ahead of the next fastest time. Haagenson had a busy and productive day, adding a 3rd-place finish in the triple jump (10.11 meters), 5th in the long jump (4.62 meters), and factored in the 4th-place 4x400 relay.

Cheyenne Cahill booked a spot at next month's New England Championships with 11.28 meters mark in the shot put, and placed 3rd out of 35.

In other throwing events, Sarah LaVita and Sienna Matregrano went 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the javelin throw, measuring 34.04 and 28.41 meters. Olivia Chase hurled the discus 32.32 meters and finished 4th.

Sydni Lehr logged top-5 showings in three events, going for 3rd in the long jump (4.69 meters), 4th in the triple jump (10.03 meters), and crossing the line 5th in the 200m (28.20). Additionally, she paired with Haagenson as part of the aforementioned 4x400 relay, which also received contributions from Emily Buchter and Sophia King.

Jessie Martin registered 2:31.70 to wind up 5th in the 800m race.

The Nor'easters are set to compete in the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Friday and Saturday.
