Standish, Maine -- The throwers from the University of New England women's track & field team placed 9th overall at the Monks Invitational hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday (Apr. 15).

Sarah LaVita logged New England Championship qualifying marks in both the javelin (36.95 meters) and discus (34.45 meters). She won the javelin and finished 4th in the discus.

Out of the six attempts in the shot put, Cheyenne Cahill registered four beyond the NE standard, with the longest being 11.83 meters. She took 2nd at the meet.

Olivia Chase also placed 2nd in the hammer throw with a distance of 38.59 meters.

Sienna Matregrano added scoring throws in the shot put (10.04 meters) and javelin (28.75 meters), as did Chase in the discus (32.22 meters).

The full squad will at SJC this Saturday for the Pine Tree Relays.
