WENHAM, Mass. --
Troy Silvestri continued a strong first season by finishing in 2nd place at the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Cross Country Championship, which was run Saturday morning (Oct. 28) on the campus of Gordon College. The University of New England took sixth as a team.
As the top newcomer to cross the line, Silvestri earned the title of
CCC Rookie of the Year, to go with
All-Conference status. He is UNE's fourth conference Rookie of the Year in program history, and the first since 2018. The complete announcement of league honors will be made in a few days.
Silvestri was only behind Nathan Massey of Roger Williams University, who backed up his 2022 title with an 8K 25:44 to lead the field of 116. Silvestri came in at 26:01, 23 seconds clear of the next fastest.
The Hawks also made it back-to-back wins, totaling 42 points to best Suffolk University (57), Gordon (90), Endicott College (98), and Wentworth Institute of Technology (120).
Contributing to the UNE score of 180 was

In two weeks, the Nor'easters will race at the NCAA Division III East Championship at regional site Hopkinton Fairgrounds in New Hampshire.
