CASCO, Maine -- Jack Sicurella turned in a five-over-par round of 77 for a 1st-place finish at the John Queenan Memorial Invitational hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Thursday (Sep. 8) at Point Sebago Golf Club. The University of New England took home fourth place out of the seven teams with a score of 338.

Sicurella completed the 18-hole event in a three-way tie for the top spot, and earned the individual title over a pair of Monks -- Trevor Flanagan and Drew Mathieu -- through a matching of scorecards. Sicurella par the last hole and birdied the 17th to decide things. It marked the ninth outright or shared win in program records for the Nor'easters, and the second at the Queenan, following Michael Rich in 2018.

Only four out of the 35 rounds broke 80 on the par-72 track (6569 yards).

St. Joe's shot 322 as a squad to beat Thomas College by nine (331) in the team competition, while the University of Southern Maine (333) wound up third in front of UNE.

Supporting Sicurella and the Nor'easters was Jake Mielcarz at 82, Rob Prentiss with 89, and Tom Higgins at 90.

UNE will spend next weekend (Sep. 17-18) at Waterville Country Club participating in two separate events -- the Thomas Invitational and the UMaine Farmington Invitational.
