BIDDEFORD, Maine – Sara Kraus scored a try in the 76th minute to help the University of New England women's rugby team to a 12-7 victory over Northeastern University at Blue Storm Stadium on Friday night.

The Nor'easters got on the board early on one of their first possessions as Salma Bezzat picked up the ball off a ruck near the try line and dove in for a score to make it 5-0 in the 4th minute [Watch]. Defensively each team made a stand near the line to keep the game close. Jordan Kreisler broke through for the Huskies with a try in the 34th minute and, after a Carolyn Grimes conversion, Northeastern led 7-5 at the half.

Defense was stellar on both sides again in the second half. The Huskies made another stop near their own try line to keep the slim lead midway through the period. Late in the half the Nor'easters made a push and Kraus finished to put UNE in front [Watch]. Bezzat converted on the kick for the final points.

UNE returns Blue Storm Stadium for Senior Day on Oct. 15 against Castleton at 3 p.m.
