KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine -- The University of New England claimed 4th place from a field of six with a 321 total in the UNE Men's Golf Invitational at Cape Arundel Golf Club on Friday (Sep. 30).
Endicott College picked up its sixth victory in the history of the event, posting a 310 to best the University of Southern Maine (316) and Saint Joseph's College of Maine (317) as the next closest squads.
Challenging greens and pin locations protected the par-69, 5,859-yard course a bit, as the winning team and individual scores matched the highest marks in all 12 Cape Arundel editions of the event. SJC's Trevor Flanagan had the standout round of the day with a 4-over-par 73, good for the largest margin of victory (3) since 2013 -- Endicott's Tyler Baker and Will Pierce both came in with 76.
The Nor'easters -- who had won the event for the first time in 2021 -- were paced by last year's medalist,
Jake Mielcarz, with a 77 that shared fourth individually.
Tom Higgins added a round of 80,
Marcus Costa finished at 81, and
Jack Sicurella chipped in with 83.
On Sunday, UNE heads to Riverside Golf Course to start the two-day USM Fall Classic.
