PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- The University of New England totaled a score of 329 as eight teams competed to advance into the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Golf Championship with an 18-hole qualifying round held Thursday (Sep. 29) at Green Valley Country Club.

Four institutions will now be moving onto the April 29-30 finals -- Nichols College (309), reigning champion Endicott College (311), Suffolk University (317), and Roger Williams University (319). Western New England University was one stroke outside the fourth spot.

Brady Burke of Endicott topped the individual field of 40 with an even-par 71 on the 6,830-yard course, winning by one over Suffolk's Mauro Stanchieri.

Leading the way for UNE was Jake Mielcarz with a 79. Jack Sicurella carded 82, Tom Higgins added 83, and Rob Prentiss rounded out the score with 85.

The Nor'easters have a quick turnaround as Homecoming Weekend 2022 kicks off Friday (10 a.m.) with the six-team UNE Invitational at Cape Arundel Golf Club.
