Nor’easters bury Seahawks, 4-1

BIDDEFORD, Maine Grace Bazin scored and also assisted on two other goals to help the University of New England field hockey team to a 4-1 victory in Salve Regina University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Blue Bolt Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
Bazin redirected a pass from the top of the circle to an open Lily Clough on the far side. Clough finished to the opposite corner to put UNE (3-5, 2-0 CCC) in front in the 8th minute [Watch]. Shannon Kennedy tied the game for Salve Regina (3-4, 1-1 CCC) in the 20th minute; Emily Frazier assisted on the tying goal.
 
Kate Lindmark found Shelly Tremblay with a penalty corner in the 25th minute. Tremblay buried a shot from long-range to put the Nor'easters in front 2-1 [Watch]. Just over two minutes later, Bazin's original shot was blocked by a Seahawk defender but she corralled the rebound and scored to make it 3-1 UNE at the half [Watch].
 
Lindmark scored the final goal for the Nor'easters in the 55th minute. A shot by Tremblay off a penalty corner was redirected into the air by Bazin right to Lindmark who swung and found the back of the net for her team-leading third goal of the season. [Watch]
 
Shots (25-7) and penalty corners (18-5) heavily favored the Nor'easters. Lindsay Pych stopped three shots to earn the victory in net. Casey Febus made nine saves for the Seahawks.
 
UNE returns to the field on Wednesday night at home against Wellesley at 6 p.m.
