BOSTON -- With four Division I women's cross country programs leading the field, the University of New England finished 7th out of 15 on Friday (Sep. 2) as the 2022 season began with the Suffolk University Short Course Classic at Franklin Park.
Besides Northeastern University (16), Boston University (56), Brown University (66), and College of Holy Cross (96), the Nor'easter team score of 216 ranked not far behind the host Rams (189) and Roger Williams University (210), and ahead of Husson University (229). Ava Duggan of Northeastern topped the individual competition of 125 with 10:31 around the 3.1 kilometer course.
Nina Parziale paced the UNE squad with a time of 12:03, which was good for the 30th position.
Kelsee Gladu (40th; 12:20),
Megan Fecteau (50th; 12:45),
Abbey O'Hern (57th; 13:06), and
Jessie Martin (59th; 13:11) rounded out the runners counting for the Nor'easters.
Rookies
Leah O'Neill and
Ella Phillips were the next two across the line for UNE, in 61st and 70th, respectively.
The Nor'easters return home for the second running of the Ron Ouellette Invitational next Saturday (10:45 a.m.) at Rotary Park.
