UNE begins year at Suffolk Classic

BOSTON -- The University of New England men's cross country team wound up 10th out of the 15 institutions running at the season-opening Suffolk University Short Course Classic at Franklin Park on Friday (Sep. 2).

The Nor'easters (299) were fourth out of the Division III programs in the field, behind Eastern Connecticut State University (143), the host Rams (160), Roger Williams University (218), and Nichols College (269).

Leading the field of 167 and starting Northeastern University towards a perfect team score was Alexander Korczynski, who clocked a time of 15:07 on the 5.0 kilometer course.

UNE's top finisher was Kyle Boucher, posting a 17:32 for the 60th spot. The Nor'easters secured places 71, 72, and 73 with the efforts of Tyler Lavallee, Sebastian Zeman, and Nolan Alexander -- all within 0.7 seconds of each other on either side of the 17:45 mark. Jackson Stone capped the team total, finishing 80th in a time of 17:54.

UNE will get set to entertain the second Ron Ouellette Invitational at Rotary Park next Saturday (11:30 a.m.).
