BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Kelsee Gladu recorded a 9th-place effort and the University of New England finished in the 5th position out of eight during the women's cross country race in the 2nd Annual Ron Ouellette Invitational at Rotary Park on Saturday (Sep. 10).

Roger Williams University put four runners inside the top 10 on the way to a team score of 35, which was good for a 20-point cushion over Husson University (55). Endicott College (79), Gordon College (96), and the Nor'easters (118) rounded out the first five squads.

Caitlin Bouffard of RWU broke the tape first around the 5K course, clocking a time of 19:52 for a 10-second buffer ahead of Husson's Ava Dowling.

Gladu registered 20:46 to lead UNE. Leah O'Neill (20th; 22:31), Jessie Martin (26th; 22:55), Ella Phillips (30th; 23:24), and Kaci Bieu (41st; 24:48) also factored in the Nor'easter total.

The meet is named for the former UNE coach, who retired in 2019 after 20 years at the helm. Ron Ouellette guided the programs to a combined nine conference championships, received a dozen Coach of the Year honors, and was inducted into the institution's Hall of Fame in 2017.

UNE heads for Gordon next Saturday to participate in the Pop Crowell Invitational. The Nor'easters have won the event the last seven times they've competed in it.
