BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Sebastian Zeman paced the University of New England men's cross country team to a 3rd-place showing out of nine institutions at the 2nd Annual Ron Ouellette Invitational on Saturday (Sep. 10) at Rotary Park.

Endicott College took the title with a score of 54, in front of Maine Maritime Academy (81) and the Nor'easters (98). Gordon College matched the Gulls with three in the top 10 finishers, and had the lowest total through three runners (14), but wound up fourth at 101.

Ben Butterfield of MMA completed the 8K course in 27:55, which was five seconds clear of Zachary Smith from Gordon.

For UNE, Zeman crossed the line in 11th with a time of 29:25, and Jack Curry was less than eight seconds back (29:33) in 14th position. Nolan Alexander (21st; 29:50), Kyle Boucher (25th; 30:11), and Kevin Jasani (27th; 30:21) rounded out the squad total. Jackson Stone was right there for the Nor'easters, as well, in 29th.

The meet is named for the former UNE cross country coach, who retired in 2019 after 20 years at the helm. Ron Ouellette guided the programs to a combined nine conference championships, received a dozen Coach of the Year honors, and was inducted into the institution's Hall of Fame in 2017.

UNE will visit the Fighting Scots for the Pop Crowell Invitational next Saturday. The Nor'easters last competed for that title in 2019, marking a sixth straight victory in the event.
