Three recognized by Westbrook College of Health Professions

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- As part of the University of New England 2022 Commencement celebrations, three Nor'easter student-athletes were honored on Friday (May 20) during the Westbrook College of Health Professions (WCHP) ceremony for academic success within their major.
  • Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for Applied Exercise Science: Katie Berger, women's rugby
  • Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for Athletic Training: Jordan Strum, softball
  • Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for Health, Wellness, and Occupational Studies: Carly Walker, women's cross country
Walker, along with Erica Dimmick, had previously been awarded the Female Senior Scholar-Athletes of the Year by the Athletics Department.

Back in late April, the College of Arts & Sciences presented awards for each of its majors, so combined with WCHP, a total of 11 student-athletes received the top academic distinctions in their field of study:
  • Outstanding Student Award for Animal Behavior: Dimmick, women's soccer / women's basketball / women's track & field
  • Outstanding Student Award for Applied Mathematics: Julia Gordon, field hockey
  • Outstanding Student Award for Art Education: Johnna Scott, women's volleyball
  • Outstanding Student Award for Business Administration: Keegan Stanton-Meas, football
  • Outstanding Student Award for Environmental Science: Nicole Corriveau, women's lacrosse
  • Outstanding Student Award for Medical Biology (Pre-Physician Assistant): Nicole Cacciola, softball
  • Outstanding Student Award for Psychology: Meghan Hamilton, women's ice hockey
  • Outstanding Student Award for Sport & Recreation Management: Matt Remavich, football
