Nor'easters wind up 4th at CCC Championship

THOMPSON, Conn. -- With a two-day total of 641, the University of New England placed 4th in the 2022 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Men's Golf Championship, which concluded Sunday (May 1) at Raceway Golf Club.

Earning the league's automatic bid into the NCAA field was Endicott College, which flipped an overnight deficit of one stroke to edge Nichols College. The Gulls went 308-302 for a 36-hole score of 610, bettering the 307-304 (611) by the Bison.

Suffolk University came in with 313 from round two to post a 640 total, which clipped the Nor'easters by one (641) after a 319 on Sunday.

Nichols had the top two individuals over the weekend, in Reece McLeod (146) and Colby Mitchell (149). McLeod had the low round in the field on Saturday with a one-over-par 73, and shared the low of 73 coming home.

For UNE, Tom Higgins (154) led the way both days, shooting 76 and 78. Jake Mielcarz (156) was one back during each round, with 77 and 79. Colin Casamento (164) shaved six strokes off his round one score with a 79 on Sunday that included a team-high three birdies. Jack Sicurella posted 167 for the 36 holes with daily scores of 84 and 83.
