WENHAM, Mass. -- The University of New England women's track & field squad received a win from the 4x400 relay group of
Rachel Pion,
Jasmine Syed,
Sydni Lehr, and
Erica Dimmick to power a runner-up finish out of the nine institutions competing in the Gordon College Invitational at the Brigham Athletic Complex on Saturday (Apr. 9).
With a team score of 134, the Nor'easters were second only to Endicott College (156), and ahead of the host Fighting Scots (117), Suffolk University (101), and Plymouth State University (69).
The 4x400 knocked nearly two seconds off its time from last week, posting a 4.18:86 to cross the line almost one second clear of the field.
Dimmick was 2nd on her own in the 400m (1:02.95; -0.57), and Pion gained 3rd-place points in both the 100m (13.43) and 200m (28.67).
Ashley Kelley supported the team in all three events, including a 4th-place effort in the 100 (13.74).
Syed (4:54.80),
Nina Parziale, and
Haley Slattery went 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the 1500m, while
Sophia King took 2nd in the 400m hurdles (1:14.75).
Anna Evans shared the top spot with two others in the high jump, reaching 1.45m. Lehr (9.77m) and
Izabella Haagenson (9.68m) were 3rd and 4th in the triple jump.
Kassidy Plummer was 2nd in the discus (31.72m), and
Sienna Matregrano threw to 3rd in the javelin (27.71m).
King, Kelley, Haagenson, and Pion also clocked 3rd in the 4x100 relay (54.04).
UNE heads to the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Invitational next Saturday.
