UNE competes at Crimson 7’s to open spring play


CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of New England women's rugby team finished 1-2 in three matches at the Harvard Crimson 7's Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Mignone Field in Cambridge, Mass. The tournament was the first sevens action for the Nor'easters since 2019 and 13 of the 15 players that participated made their sevens debut.
 
UNE saw steady progress on both offense and defense throughout the day and won its third match of the day 34-5 over American International College B. Six different Nor'easters scored a try including Katie Berger, Alyssa Ehrenfried, Mackenzie Burke, Emily Ramsey, Julia Mast, and Brianna Dargin. Burke also made two conversions.
 
The Nor'easters fell 29-5 to Harvard B to open the day with the lone try scored by Burke. Mast had a try and Burke added a conversion for UNE in its second match of the tournament, a 29-7 defeat to Dartmouth B.
 
UNE is back in action on Sunday, April 10 in the Sorensen 7's Tournament hosted by Brown in Providence, R.I.
