UNE runs at Silfen Elite Distance Invite

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Four harriers represented the University of New England women's track & field team at Connecticut College's Silfen Elite Distance Invitational on Friday night (Apr. 15) at Silfen Track.

Kelsee Gladu and Nina Parziale each qualified for the New England Championship meet in May with program-best times in their respective events. Gladu clocked 40:31.39 in the 10,000m race, dropping more than one minute off her previous mark. Parziale's 18:20.95 in the 5,000m was practically 30 seconds better than her own standard.

Haley Slattery also ran in the 5,000m, and recorded a personal best by 14 seconds (18:59.55). Jasmine Syed lowered her school record in the 1,500m by 0.69 seconds, crossing the line in 4:54.11.

The rest of the Nor'easter squad will be in action Saturday at Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
