Nor’easters have strong showing at Brown 7’s

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of New England women's rugby team competed in the Brown 7's Tournament on Sunday in Providence, R.I.
 
The Nor'easters A team advanced to the Kodiak Cup Final, falling to Bowdoin 24-7 in the championship. The A team had won its previous four matches of the day. UNE defeated American International 17-5 to open the day and then shutout Bowdoin College B, 24-0. The Nor'easters finished group play with a 26-5 victory over Colby-Sawyer College. UNE took down Sacred Heart University B, 12-0, in the semifinal round.

Emily Ramsey and Meghan Smith led the A side with four tries each. Mackenzie Burke and Katie Berger each had two tries. Burke was also 7-for-11 on conversions.
 
UNE's B team fell to Bowdoin A (31-0), University of New Hampshire (17-0), and Sacred Heart B (27-0) in group play before defeating Colby-Sawyer 22-15 to finish the day. Johanna Robinson scored twice, including a penalty try. Mackayla O'Meara and Elizabeth Goodrich provided the other scoring for the Nor'easters.
 
UNE will host the Nor'easters 7's on Saturday at Blue Storm Stadium beginning at 10:30 a.m.
