BURRILLVILLE, R.I. – The No. 4-seed University of New England women's ice hockey team scored twice in the third period on its way to a 4-3 victory over No. 3 seed Nichols College in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Semifinals at Levy Rink on Saturday afternoon.
The Nor'easters (11-12-2) advance to the championship game next Saturday (March 5) and will play top-seeded Endicott after the Gulls dispatched of No.7 Curry in the other semifinal, 8-0.

Abbi Charvat gave UNE at 2-0 lead 11:49 into the first period. Nichols (15-9-1) got one back on a score by Kara Santoro with 2:32 to play in the period to trim the deficit to one at intermission.
Isabella Porti tied the game 2-2 late in the second period on a goal with help from Santoro and Mel McAleer.
Piper Desorcie found the back of the net 1:39 into the third period to put the Nor'easters back in front 3-2. Hamilton assisted on the go-ahead goal.
Jenna Pych added a power play goal at the 10:14 mark of the third to extend the lead to 4-2. Desorcie and
McKenna Remillard, who had two assists, helped on the goal.
With an extra attacker on the ice, Santoro put in her second of the game with 3:24 to play, but the Bison were unable to get another on the board.
UNE held a 39-33 advantage in shots and outshot Nichols, 21-10, in the decisive third period.
Delanie Corcoran made 30 saves in the victory. Victoria Bakapanos had 35 stops in the loss.
The Nor'easters will play for the conference title for a second time in program history, after reaching the final of the Colonial Hockey Conference in 2019-20. This is the first year the CCC has sponsored women's ice hockey.
