BIDDEFORD, Maine – Hannah Humes scored the first goal of her career on a power play with 6:01 to play to help the University of New England to a 3-3 tie with Suffolk University in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup at the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday afternoon.
The Nor'easters (5-5-1, 4-3-1 CCC) trailed for the first time all day after a goal by Sofia Scilipoti 2:57 in to the third period make it 3-2 in favor of the Rams. Humes intercepted a clear attempt by a Suffolk defender and scored with a shot to the far side of the net to tie the game for UNE. [

Both teams had a few chances in overtime. A penalty by the Rams led to a UNE power play early in the extra period, but it was unable to score the winner. Suffolk also had a power play chance in the closing seconds.
Keely Kasputis put the Nor'easters in front early in the first period as she shoved in a loose puck in a crowd in front of the net [

Abbi Charvat assisted on the first goal of the game. Madison Duff answered for Suffolk, with help from Scilipoti and Lassman just over a minute later to tie the game 1-1 with 13:04 to play in the first.
Charvat put in her own rebound on a power play to put UNE back in front with 4:17 left in the period.
Bella Crugnale had an initial shot on goal and was credited with an assist, as was
Avery Lutrzykowski, on the go-ahead score. [

Suffolk answered back to tie the game with 5:24 to go in the second period as Elis Wainwright scored her second of the season with help from Miranda Gaudet and Livia Brehm.
Shots favored Suffolk 44-33, but UNE held a 13-11 advantage in the third period and overtime. Delaine Corcoran played the entire game in net for the Nor'easters and registered 41 saves. Julia McLennan was in goal for the final two periods and overtime and made 23 saves for the Rams to earn the tie. Lil O'Neil started and made seven saves while allowing two first-period goals.
The Nor'easters are back in action on the road at #8 Colby on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
