SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Mount Holyoke College received first-place showings from six different swimmers to get the better of the University of New England women's swimming team, 157-100, on Saturday (Nov. 5) at the MHC Natatorium.
Carolina Loayza, Eliza Williams, and Kamlyn Yosick each touched the wall first in a couple of events for the Lyons, while Ruth Bailey, Anais Magner, and Megan Schneider added one win apiece. Bailey edged Loayza in the closest race of the day -- the 100-freestyle -- by 0.30 seconds.
The second-tightest finish came in the 200-freestyle, as Williams clipped UNE's
Elli Donovan (2:09.91) by 0.46 ticks.
Annika Doeppers earned top point values in three strokes to pace the Nor'easters (3-1). She clocked 11:53.15 to take the 1,000-freestyle, then was 0.70 clear of Schneider in the 100-breaststroke (1:14.35), and concluded with a 1:09.33 in the 100-individual medley.
UNE returns home to compete against Simmons University next Saturday (12 p.m.).
