Colonels edge Nor’easters, 2-1

CANTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's ice hockey team defeated the University of New England 2-1 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup at the Canton Ice House on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Colonels converted on a power play opportunity with 5:15 to play in the first period. Grayson Goolgasian scored with help from Katie Courteau and Ava Doyle to give the hosts a 1-0 lead at the first intermission.
 
After a scoreless second period, Seneca Urban put home a power play goal to extend the lead to 2-0 midway through the third. Danielle Stein and Emily Bisbee assisted on the score.
 
Carolyn Curley cut the deficit in half with her second goal in as many nights with the Nor'easters playing with an extra skater on the ice. Meghan Hamilton and Jamie DuPont provided assists. UNE had four late shots on goal in the final 38 seconds of play, but were unable to tie the game.
 
Shots favored the Nor'easters 43-22 on the night. Anna Langton was stellar in net for Curry, making 42 saves. Delanie Corcoran had 20 stops in the loss for UNE.
 
The Nor'easters return to the ice at Salve Regina on Friday night at 7 p.m.
