Nor'easters land 4th place at Maine Championship

BANGOR, Maine -- Guided by a top-10 effort out of Nina Parziale, the University of New England recorded a solid 4th-place showing out of nine institutions running at the 2022 Maine Women's Cross Country Championship on Saturday (Oct. 1) at Saxl Park.

Bates College captured the event for a sixth consecutive year, accounting for seven of the initial 10 individuals and posting a score of 18. Jillian Richardson led the way around the 5K course, clocking 17:48 to win by 28 seconds in the field of 118.

Bowdoin College had a third-place individual power a team total of 67, while Colby College posted 76 without anyone better than 13th. The Nor'easters came in with 123, ahead of Husson University by nine.

Parziale's run of 18:48 was good for 7th and All-State status. Kelsee Gladu (29th; 19:37), Haley Slattery (33rd; 19:53), Megan Fecteau (54th; 20:31), and Jessie Martin (66th; 21:00) supplied the rest of the UNE score.

The Nor'easters will be at the Suffolk University Invitational in two weeks.
