CASCO, Maine -- The University of New England men's golf team carded a consistent score of 319 to wind up in 3rd place out of the seven competing squads at the John Queenan Memorial Invitational hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Wedneday (Sep. 8) at Point Sebago Golf Club.

The host Monks (311) secured a one-stroke victory over the University of Southern Maine in the event, with players from each side -- Brogan Kane (USM) and Trevor Flanagan (SJC) -- sharing the individual title after 2-over-par rounds of 74.

In the team standings after UNE, Gordon College was well back (333) in fourth position.

Tom Higgins and Marcus Costa paced the Nor'easters with 79, Jack Sicurella posted 80, and Jake Mielcarz came in with 81.

UNE will now prepare for the qualifying round that leads to the 2022 Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship in April. The Nor'easters are the hosts of the 18-hole event on September 16 at Dunegrass Golf Club in Old Orchard Beach.
